Malaysian elections
election rallies in Malaysia
At election rallies in Malaysia last week, several women in purple headscarves were spotted at different places simultaneously, elbowing their way to the front of crowds and questioning candidates on their commitments towards women's rights.
The women all introduced themselves as Mak Bedah.
So who is Mak Bedah?
Several women represent this intriguing candidate and one of them joins Everywoman from Kuala Lumpur.
Meera Samanther is a lawyer and member of the Women's Candidacy Initiative.
She tells Shiulie Ghosh what the women are asking for.
Dismantle the hype on how women should look. This is a our proud montage of women that have been ludicrously named as "tomboys".
Sift through your albums and join our campaign! We're making a picture of diversity that makes up Malaysian women. Send us a photograph of working women, in uniforms, in factory clothings, historical figures, sportswomen, our grandmothers, mothers, ourselves...as long as it is all from Malaysia (whatever you perceive as Malaysian).
We dedicate this campaign to the cool "tomboys" out there: 'We are proud of our women just the way they are!'

There is no deadline for sending in the photos but there is a starting line, and it starts now. so what you waiting for? Go ransack some albums!! :)
